Hello my fellow EWGA Houstonians,

 As your Lone Star Cup (LSC) captain for the Houston team, I am putting a team together to represent the Houston Chapter at the LSC Match Play Competition.  There will be 12 team members and 2 alternates.  The tournament will be at Barton Creek this year.  The dates of the tournament are August 26 – August 28. 

Marketing Stuff---

This event was created, 10 years ago, to give members the opportunity to develop friendships outside their own chapters.  We have given members an opportunity to compete in a team competition using the Match Play Format or just have the opportunity to play two days of golf at Barton Creek (http://www.bartoncreek.com/), one of the Premier Golf Resorts in Texas.

The event begins with a Welcome reception, includes two rounds of golf and ends Saturday with closing ceremonies and the naming of the 2010 LSC Champions.  The package cost is $675.00 and includes the following.

                 Thursday, August 26, 2010: 

o   Luxurious guest room accommodations

o   Thursday evening welcome reception

o   Friday morning breakfast buffet in the beautiful Hill Country Dining Room

o   Friday Tournament Round on Crenshaw Cliffside Golf Course

Friday, August 27, 2010:  

o   Luxurious guest room accommodations

o   Saturday morning breakfast buffet in the beautiful Hill Country Dining Room

o   Saturday Tournament Round on Fazio Foothills Golf Course

 Saturday, August 28, 2010: 

o   Luxurious guest room accommodations

o   Saturday evening Awards Dinner

o   Sunday morning breakfast buffet in the beautiful Hill Country Dining Room

In 2009, the Houston Chapter won the LSC Trophy.  The trophy is in our possession and we will defend the right to keep it another year!

 Determination of the Team--

I have elected to be a playing captain, which leaves 11 remaining places filled by tryouts.  If you are interested in trying out for the Houston LSC Team, please respond by March 22, 2010.  You must provide your current handicap index as well as where you maintain your handicap.  Please email no later than March 22, 2010 to allow me the time needed to develop the bracket for the competition.

Match Play Competition will begin in April and all Matches must be completed by July 31, 2010.  Both competitors must agree on the course and date for their match.  If an agreement cannot be determined by the competitors, I will determine the course and date to be played.

The team is chosen by selecting the top 14 players with the most points attained during the matches.  Qualifying points will be determined based on your three matches.  You get points for the margin of the win.  Example:  Player A beats Player B with a score of 4-1.  Player A gets 4 points.

You must have at least three stroke play scores posted in 2010 on your handicap index. (As match play is paired at LSC by handicaps, having a current handicap index is key).

You must have participated in at least one 2010 EWGA event prior to LSC (this includes Socials, League Plays, Clinics).

Please keep in mind it is not necessary for you to compete to enjoy this out of town Golf Experience.  The competition is just one of the formats offered; we also have fun play for you and your guest to enjoy this opportunity to play at Barton Creek with EWGA.
